The Athens High School Band competes in conference 4A.  We specialize in military style marching which is based on tradition with dignity and pride.  We march at all Athens High School football games, UIL Marching contest and at local parades.  During the spring semester we perform several concerts and participate in UIL Concert and Sight-reading contest.  The band has been awarded the UIL "Sweepstakes" award for earning 1st division ratings in marching, concert and in Sight-reading competitions for the past 11 consecutive years.  The band most recently performed at Universal Studios and has also performed in Washington D.C. , Walt Disney World, and in Chicago at the Field Museum. The band will be returning to Disney World to once again march in the Disney World Parade in Orlando, Florida.

Mission Statement

It is the goal of the Athens Band Program to mold our students into successful, productive adults; teaching them that through determination, diligent effort, commitment to a team and discipline that each member can achieve any task that they pursue.  We believe that true pride is based on effort, not assumed because of affiliation, but self-bestowed after struggle and strife have produced success; that "fun" in band is not meaningless folly but interaction with peers and leaders in the process of pursuing excellence.  We want our students to apply these skills to the trials that they will encounter in the road that lies ahead; to be successful in life because of what they have done in band.
