AHS powerlifter qualifies for state
Athens High School junior Anna Kidd will be competing in the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association State Meet on Friday, March 17 in Frisco at Comerica Center. Kidd won first in her weight class at the regional meet among Girls Region 3 Class 4A Large Schools. Powerlifters compete in squat, bench press and deadlift. A lifter’s highest successful attempt on each lift counts toward her competition total. Kidd joined the girls powerlifting team her freshman year, inspired by her uncle, who is a bodybuilder. She competed in the regional meet her sophomore year. This is her first time to qualify for state.
